Valentine’s Day Thoughts

by Jacqueline Franchetti

Last night, while many of you were out celebrating Valentine’s Day, I met with another Mom who lost her daughter nearly 20 year ago. In sadly similar circumstances, the father killed her then-five-year-old daughter in a murder-suicide. This brave and wonderful woman now works in the domestic violence space, and her efforts are helping tens of thousands of others each year.

While my heart will always be broken and my soul will always ache, never underestimate the power of love. It is our love for our daughters that makes us want to wake up one day in a world where our babies and children can be safe from abusive parents.

Unfortunately, that day is not today. Until it is, I will continue to love you, Kyra, and try to protect those like you.

I love you, sweet baby!
